Sentencing Nears in Flamingo Bird Case; Housekeeper Recounts Finding Injured Flamingo

Monday, October 19, 2026 · City · GSM News

Las Vegas is a city in Clark County, Nevada. A housekeeper testified in Clark County District Court this week in the case of Peachy, a Chilean flamingo injured at the Flamingo Las Vegas wildlife habitat.

The housekeeper recalled entering the habitat in March with a coworker for a deep cleaning and finding Peachy lying on the ground with a broken neck, unable to stand, eat or drink, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Oct. 16. Peachy was discovered two days after the defendant was detained by hotel security; the injuries were so severe and irreversible that the bird was euthanized the day after it was found. Prosecutors say the defendant was last seen on surveillance video near the enclosure before Peachy was hurt, and that the bird struggled to stand as he was escorted out. A grand jury has indicted the man, and sentencing is approaching. (GSM, via the Las Vegas Review-Journal)
