Gaza Health Ministry: Israeli Attacks Kill 6 and Injure 43 in 48 Hours; Death Toll Since the Ceasefire Reaches 1,511

Gaza — Israeli attacks killed six Palestinians and injured 43 others in the Gaza Strip in the past 48 hours, Gaza's Health Ministry reported on October 18. In its update, the ministry said the death toll since the October 2025 ceasefire stood at 1,511, the number of people injured was 5,375, and 838 bodies had been recovered.
The figures were published by the Gaza health authorities. GSM previously reported that, as the US-brokered ceasefire marked one year, more than 100 humanitarian and human rights organisations said over 1,400 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli fire since the truce; the ministry's updated cumulative toll is more than a hundred higher than that figure.
The first phase of the truce, reached on October 10, 2025, halted the fighting, freed the remaining hostages and exchanged them for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, but follow-on goals — disarming Hamas, an Israeli withdrawal and Gaza's reconstruction — have seen no substantial progress.
