Monday, October 19, 2026 · California · GSM News

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood Station has announced additional patrol deputies throughout the city, including the Rainbow District entertainment corridor along Santa Monica Boulevard, in response to recent violent robberies that raised community safety concerns.

According to the station, at about 9:05 p.m. on October 8, an armed robbery occurred in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard: an adult male victim was approached by two men dressed in black, one pointing a silver handgun and the second brandishing a knife, who demanded his watch and bracelet. One suspect struck the victim in the face with the handgun, causing a laceration to his forehead. The suspects took the watch and fled in an unknown vehicle. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel evaluated the victim at the scene; he was not transported to a hospital. The Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau has taken over the investigation; no arrests have been reported and the investigation is ongoing.

The department also cited statistics showing Part 1 crimes in West Hollywood fell nearly 10% from January through August 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, with robberies down about 21%, from 62 to 49 incidents — figures that precede the October robberies.
