Riverside Sheriff: Three More Arrested in Moreno Valley Attempted Murder, Elder Abuse and Real Estate Fraud Case

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office reported on October 16 that investigators from the Moreno Valley Station Investigations Bureau served search warrants at multiple locations throughout Moreno Valley on October 13 and arrested three additional suspects in a case involving attempted murder, elder abuse and extensive real estate fraud. Investigators have identified at least four additional victims of fraud, including elderly and deceased individuals.
The case began on December 8, 2024, when Moreno Valley deputies responded to the 27000 block of Storrie Lake Drive regarding an assault on an elderly victim who said someone had attempted to kill them; the victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Investigators identified Lester Watkins, 53, of Moreno Valley, as a suspect and discovered evidence of real estate fraud involving additional suspects. Watkins was arrested in Diamond Bar on December 16, 2024, and booked on suspicion of attempted murder and elder abuse.
As the investigation continued, investigators identified Darnell Thompson, 72, Danielle Thompson, 22, and Nakethia Taylor, 53, all of Moreno Valley. Because of the scale of the fraud, the Riverside County District Attorney's Real Estate Fraud Unit joined the investigation. Darnell was booked for attempted murder, conspiracy, money laundering, grand theft, forgery and preventing or dissuading a witness; Danielle was booked for money laundering; and Nakethia was booked for forgery and perjury. All three were booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center. The charges are allegations to be decided by the courts.
