Menifee Planning Commission Continues Kensington Residential Hearing to Dec. 9 Over Fire Hardening Review

The Menifee Planning Commission voted 3-1 on October 14 to continue the public hearing for the Kensington Residential project to December 9, 2026, allowing the applicant and the fire marshal time to evaluate additional structural fire-hardening measures.
At the same meeting, the commission voted 4-0 to recommend that the City Council adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration and approve the general plan amendment, change of zone and plot plan for the 240-unit Boulders II residential project, subject to conditions on parking, fencing and park improvements; the final decision rests with the City Council. The commission also approved the minutes of its September 9 meeting by a 4-0 vote.
The Kensington continuance reflects the scrutiny of fire construction standards for new housing in Menifee's wildfire-prone corner of Riverside County. The agenda and materials for the December 9 hearing will be published by the city.
