San Bernardino County Highlights Local Businesses and Route 66 Centennial at State of the County

San Bernardino County spotlighted its local businesses at the annual State of the County event on Thursday, October 8, which also celebrated the 100th anniversary of Route 66. Officials attending included Board of Supervisors Chair and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe, Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca Jr., Second District Supervisor Jesse Armendarez, Fourth District Supervisor Curt Hagman, Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Josie Gonzales, Sheriff Shannon Dicus and County Superintendent of Schools Ted Alejandre.
Longtime Inland Empire radio host Jesse Duran opened the event, followed by a video featuring County Chief Executive Officer Luther Snoke and the Board of Supervisors on Route 66's impact on the region, and a swing dance performance. "We're celebrating Route 66 and how this historic road has inspired travelers for 100 years to drive across this great country," Rowe said in her welcome.
The program featured three panels, including San Bernardino Community College District Board of Trustees Chair Nathan Gonzales, Stater Bros. Markets Executive Chairman Peter Van Helden and Logan's Candies co-owner Jerry Rowley, discussing their organizations' backgrounds, longevity and plans. The county published its recap of the event on October 15.
