California AG Bonta Announces Two Arrests in Tulare County: Six Firearms, 99 Rounds and 24 Grams of Meth Seized

California Attorney General Rob Bonta on October 20 announced the arrest of two people following a multi-agency operation that seized six firearms, ammunition and narcotics at a residence in Tulare County.
On October 6, the Tulare County Agencies Regional Gun Violence Enforcement Team (TARGET), with support from the Tulare Police Department SWAT Team, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's Community Compliance Unit and the California Department of Justice, executed a search warrant at a Tulare residence after an investigation into suspected unlawful firearm possession and narcotics sales. Officers seized three rifles, two shotguns, one pistol, 99 rounds of ammunition, 24 grams of methamphetamine and three digital scales. Among the firearms was a pistol reported stolen in 2023 from Visalia.
One of the two people arrested is suspected of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possessing a loaded firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, allowing a convicted felon access to a firearm, possessing stolen property and possessing a controlled substance for sale. The second was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance with qualifying prior convictions and violating parole, and was located and arrested by corrections personnel during the operation. The TARGET task force consists of personnel from the DOJ's Bureau of Firearms, the Visalia Police Department, the Tulare County Sheriff's Office, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
"When firearms fall into the wrong hands, they put our communities at risk," Bonta said. The Attorney General's office noted that the charges described are only allegations and that every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The names of the two people arrested were not released.
