$10,000 Reward Reinstated in Unsolved Palmdale Park Killing: Jacob Matthew Taylor, 19, Was Shot at Marie Kerr Park in 2022

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in California approved a motion by Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger on October 20 to reinstate a $10,000 reward for information in an unsolved fatal shooting at Marie Kerr Park in Palmdale. The victim, Jacob Matthew Taylor, 19, was shot in the park's west parking lot in the early hours of November 1, 2022, and died at a hospital.
According to the supervisor's office and the Sheriff's Department, deputies responded at about 12:45 a.m. on November 1, 2022, to the park in the 39900 block of 30th Street West and found Taylor suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators say a group of people had been fighting in the west parking lot after hours, and about ten minutes later, unidentified suspects drove into the lot in a pickup truck and opened fire on the crowd before fleeing.
The reward was first established by the Board in September 2023 and expired that December; Barger's motion has now brought it back. Sheriff's homicide detectives continue to investigate, and the supervisor's office said the renewed reward is meant to encourage anyone with information to come forward so the victim's family can get answers and justice.
