Honolulu is a city in Honolulu County, Hawaii (a consolidated city-county). Honolulu, Hawaii, has begun preparing for its annual holiday light celebration. The Honolulu Mayor's Office announced on October 19 that city crews have begun installing holiday displays on the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds for the 2026 Honolulu City Lights, which marks the 42nd anniversary of Oahu's iconic holiday celebration under the theme "Christmas in the Country."

According to the city, Mike Gangloff of Show Aloha Land and his sponsors are bringing new free displays to the grounds, including a lighted tunnel, illuminated trees, a train for keiki rides, and festive motifs lining Alapai and Beretania Streets. They will join traditional displays including Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele, the ABC Blocks and the Gnomes.

The month-long celebration kicks off with a block party at 4 p.m. on December 5 on Punchbowl Street, followed by the Public Workers' Electric Light Parade at 6 p.m. from Aala Park. As the parade passes Honolulu Hale, Mayor Rick Blangiardi will illuminate the city's holiday tree and the displays on the grounds. Details are at hnlcitylights.com.
