Star Trek: Outposts Unknown Launches Today: The Franchise's First Outpost Builder Arrives on Steam

Star Trek: Outposts Unknown, a strategy game developed by Magic Fuel Games and published by Playstack, launches on Steam on October 20, unlocking at 9 a.m. Pacific at a price of $32.99, initially for PC only. It is the first game in the Star Trek franchise built around outpost construction, arriving in the franchise's 60th anniversary year.
Set in the 23rd century, in the same era as the series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the game puts players in the captain's chair, leading a crew into the X'Lehari System to build research facilities across multiple planets, from temperate Daegus to Kourou, a world of volcanic wastelands and frozen glaciers. Gameplay centers on exploration, construction and resource management, with more than 55 materials to research, harvest and manufacture, while facilities need power and supplies and officers must be developed to meet the challenges ahead.
The original storyline revolves around a mysterious phenomenon called the Tetryon Rift, which threatens the stability of the system and the survival of a fragile civilization. Unlike the franchise's more action-oriented titles, the new game focuses on scientific discovery, outpost operations and keeping a crew alive.
