Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Sale Opens Over $15 Million: Median Up 23%

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 · States · GSM News

The 2026 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings sale opened on October 19 at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky, with 265 yearlings sold on the first day for $15,294,000, an average of $57,713 and a median of $37,000 — up 23% from last year's opening-session median of $30,000.

The session topper was a colt by Constitution (hip 328), sold for $360,000 to KSI from the Woods Edge Farm consignment; the colt comes from the immediate family of influential sire War Front. The top filly, a daughter of Twirling Candy (hip 276), brought $325,000 from First Row Partners. Two more yearlings made $300,000: a Tapit colt (hip 119) bought by Main Line Racing in partnership, whose Dr. Louis Bucky said it was his first venture into buying colts, with his grandson alongside; and a Gun Runner colt (hip 123) bought by MWG.

Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning called it a solid opening session with good trade and plenty of activity on the grounds. The sale runs for four sessions and continues the next day at 10 a.m. (GSM, from Paulick Report, October 20)
