Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings, Session Three: Nyquist Filly Tops the Day at $725,000

The 2026 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings sale held its third of four sessions on Oct. 21 at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky. The session topper was a filly by Nyquist (hip 996), sold for $725,000 to Ben Gowans, agent for Young Squirrel Stables, from the consignment of Gainesway, agent for Coteau Grove Farms. The dark bay or brown filly, bred in Louisiana, is a full sister to Gaudreau, recent runner-up in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes and a Breeders' Cup Juvenile entrant for Oct. 30 at Keeneland. “The moment we saw her, we were just blown away,” said Andrew Beck of Young Squirrel Stables. “She was the epitome of what we were looking for. Everything about her just screams racehorse.”
The day's second-highest price was a filly from the first crop of champion Forte (hip 1030), consigned by Woods Edge Farm, which sold for $500,000 to Mayberry Farm.
Through three sessions, according to Thoroughbred Daily News, 811 yearlings have sold for $48,640,000, an average of $59,975, down 7.4% from the same point in 2025; the median held at $30,000 and the buy-back rate was 21.6%. A total of 47 yearlings have brought $200,000 or more, down from 62 a year ago. Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning Jr. called it a fairly consistent marketplace. The sale's final session was set for 10 a.m. on Oct. 22.
