Sempio Canned Yellow Peaches Recalled Over Elevated Lead: FDA Lists Class II Recall Sold Mainly at Asian Grocery Stores

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has listed a recall of Korean-made canned yellow peaches, a staple on Asian grocery store shelves, over elevated levels of lead. The recall was initiated by Sempio Food Services, Inc. on September 24, 2026, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall on October 19, under Enforcement Report event number 99981. Under the FDA's definition, a Class II recall covers products whose use may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, with a remote probability of serious harm.
The recalled product is Sempio Yellow Peach in cans of 14.10 ounces, a product of Korea, bearing UPC 8801005320825 and lot code 2026 06 01 (10:09). A total of 150 cases are covered. The recalling firm, Sempio Food Services, Inc., is located at 12928 Moore St in Cerritos, California.
According to the FDA Enforcement Report, the peaches were distributed primarily through Asian grocery stores in 11 states: California, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, New Jersey, Georgia, Maryland, New York, Illinois and Virginia. The FDA issued no separate press release for the recall, and its listing carries no product-specific remedy instructions; identification rests on the UPC and lot code above.
It is the company's second recall this month. On October 1, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Sempio Food Services was recalling about 4,596 pounds of ready-to-eat Korean ginseng chicken stew imported from South Korea without the benefit of import reinspection. That action involved a different product, a different agency and a different reason from the canned peach recall.
