[Video] Shrek 2 Remastered Announced for November 10 With a GTA 6-Style Trailer

Publisher Aspyr officially announced DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered during the ID@Xbox showcase on October 20, setting a November 10 launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, priced at $29.99 with pre-orders open now at a 10 percent discount.
The original Shrek 2 game, developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision in 2004, adapted DreamWorks Animation's hit film. Players control Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey and other characters through the swamp, Fiona's castle and the kingdom of Far Far Away, and the game was known for its four-player local co-op.
The remaster rebuilds the presentation with improved textures, an enhanced user interface, upgraded cutscenes and 4K resolution, and adds a Photo Mode and a Cheat Mode. Its biggest addition is online play: up to four players can now team up online, locally, or in a mix of both, swapping heroes at any time to use each character's abilities in combat and puzzles.
The announce trailer deliberately channels the promotional style of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6 campaign, a gag that drew wide attention on the day. With DreamWorks' Shrek 5 expected in theaters on June 30, 2027, the remaster also serves as a warm-up for the ogre's return to the big screen.
