Denver Council Gives First Reading to East Colfax Sidewalk Easement Measure Covering 39 Properties

In Denver, a city and county in Colorado, the Denver City Council gave initial approval on Monday to Council Bill 26-1430 on first reading, authorizing the city to acquire temporary access easements from 39 properties — 36 residential and 3 commercial, totaling about 2,000 square feet — by negotiation or, if necessary, condemnation, for the East Colfax sidewalk project, Denver Focal reported October 20. The project, in District 8 (Councilmember Shontel Lewis), covers Quebec to Willow and North Rosemary Street from East Colfax to East 16th Avenue, and is funded by a voter-approved program.
The bill still requires a final vote of the full council.
