When the Tennessee Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott on Oct. 20, the team said only that an 'incident' had occurred at its facility. On Oct. 21, more details emerged. According to The Tennessean and multiple other outlets, Elliott got into a clash with offensive tackle JC Latham during practice on Oct. 15 and was told to leave the field; he then removed his pads, walked out of the facility to his car in the players' parking area to retrieve a gun, apparently intending to confront Latham, with the sequence captured on security cameras. Veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers talked him down and de-escalated the situation. No report was filed with Nashville police. Head coach Robert Saleh corroborated the reports at his Oct. 21 news conference.

In its Oct. 20 statement, the team confirmed that 'on Thursday, October 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,' said it had decided after a review to release him, and declined further comment. Elliott had been ruled out of the Oct. 18 game against the Indianapolis Colts for personal reasons. He signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the Titans in the offseason and appeared in five games this season with one start, totaling 11 tackles.
