Narnia: The Magician's Nephew Trailer Racks Up 481.3 Million Views in Its First Week, More Than Double Barbie's Total, According to Deadline

The first trailer for Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew drew more than 481.3 million views in its first seven days, according to WaveMetrix data reported exclusively by Deadline following Netflix's earnings call. The total is more than double the 240 million views the trailer for Gerwig's Barbie earned in the same window, and it also tops Wonka at 237.2 million views and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie at 281.6 million views.
The trailer debuted on October 13 at an IMAX screening at the AMC Lincoln Center in New York, where Gerwig discussed the film with Stephen Colbert before the preview landed online. It trended at No. 1 on X, remains the top trending movie trailer on YouTube, and briefly crashed the film's website, NarniaFilm.com, under the volume of visitors. The preview is scored by Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," which reports say the band licensed for a film trailer for the first time.
Adapted from C.S. Lewis's 1955 novel, the film is a prequel telling how Digory Kirke and his friend Polly reach the newly created world of Narnia. The cast includes Emma Mackey as Jadis the White Witch, Daniel Craig and Carey Mulligan, with Meryl Streep voicing Aslan. The film opens in theaters on February 12, 2027, with an exclusive 49-day theatrical window before streaming; Sony handles theatrical distribution overseas.
