Pasadena Urges Property Owners to Finish 2026 Rental Registration by October 31: $236.54 Per Unit, Grace Period to November 7

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · Life · GSM News

PASADENA, Calif. — The Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) of Pasadena, a city in Los Angeles County, California, is reminding property owners that the deadline to complete the 2026 Rental Registration is Saturday, October 31. With the RSD office closed on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, owners are encouraged to complete their registration and submit payment early to avoid potential late fees, and to allow time to seek assistance, ask questions and resolve any issues.

The annual registration period began September 1, 2026, and requires all residential rental properties in Pasadena to be registered with the city's Rental Registry. Owners must submit the required property and unit information and pay the 2026 Rental Housing Fee of $236.54 per unit. Certain units may qualify for an exemption from the fee; owners who believe their units qualify are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements and submit the exemption application through the Rental Registry first, so staff can review and determine eligibility before the remaining registration steps are completed.

The city is providing a seven-day grace period through November 7 to give owners additional time to complete registration or resolve issues. Beginning November 8, late fees will be assessed on unpaid registration fees: 15 percent, or $35.48 per unit, from November 8 to December 15, 2026; 30 percent, or $70.96 per unit, from December 16, 2026 to January 29, 2027; and 50 percent, or $118.27 per unit, from January 30, 2027 onward.

RSD will offer its final walk-in registration assistance sessions this month at the RSD office, 199 S. Los Robles Ave., First Floor Conference Room, on Thursday, October 22, and Thursday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Owners should bring their Rental Registry account login information and the most up-to-date information about their property and units. The sessions are free, open to the public and do not require an appointment; individual appointments with RSD staff can also be scheduled.

Registration can be completed through the city's Rental Registry portal at Bit.ly/PasadenaRentalRegistry. Payment can be made online by credit card or e-check through the portal; in person by check, cash, credit card or debit card at City of Pasadena Municipal Services, 100 N. Garfield Ave., Room N106, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. (bring a copy of the invoice; payments are not accepted at the RSD office); or by mail by check, following the instructions on the invoice. Payments must be made in full, as partial payments are not accepted. For assistance, contact the Rent Stabilization Department at (626) 744-7999 or [email protected].
