Port of Seattle Closes Record Cruise Season: 330 Ship Calls, Nearly 2 Million Passengers, Shore Power Use at 66 Percent

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · City · GSM News

In Seattle, a city in King County, Washington, the Port of Seattle closed its 2026 cruise season on October 18 with record numbers: 330 ship calls and nearly 2 million revenue passengers, generating an estimated $1.2 billion in regional economic benefit and more than 5,120 direct and indirect jobs. Ten homeport brands operated 16 homeport ships, and MSC and Virgin Voyages completed their first Seattle seasons.

Shore power use reached a record 66 percent of homeport calls, on the way to a 100 percent target by 2028. The Star Princess also completed the first LNG bunkering of a cruise ship in Elliott Bay.

Port Commissioner Sam Cho credited the season to cleaner operations and the region's gateway position for Alaska cruises.
