Groundbreaking Held for The Den at Eight50 West: $147 Million Student Housing Project for Morehouse and Spelman in Atlanta's West End

ATLANTA, Georgia — A groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 15 in the West End neighborhood of Atlanta, in Fulton County, Georgia, for The Den at Eight50 West, a $147 million student housing development by Radnor Property Group in partnership with the Madrone Community Development Foundation. The project, at 850 West End Avenue steps from both campuses, will provide modern housing for students of Morehouse College and Spelman College, two historically Black institutions.
Mayor Andre Dickens joined leaders of both colleges at the ceremony. 'Atlanta has always been a city where excellence and higher education go hand in hand. The influence of these HBCUs reaches into every corner of this city. The Den at Eight50 West is an investment for the next generation of graduates,' Dickens said. The developers describe the project as a first-of-its-kind joint housing partnership between the two colleges, intended to support campus and enrollment growth with high-quality, accessible housing for hundreds of Atlanta University Center students.
