Denver Celebrates Completed Weir Gulch Improvements in Sun Valley: Lower Flood Risk and New Outdoor Amenities

DENVER, Colorado — The City and County of Denver, in Denver County, Colorado, joined the Mile High Flood District, the Denver Housing Authority and community members on October 21 to celebrate the completion of improvements along Weir Gulch in the Sun Valley neighborhood.
The city said the completed project reduces flood risk for the surrounding neighborhood, adds new outdoor amenities and public space, and supports affordable housing in Sun Valley. Bringing together flood-control, housing and community partners, the project is one of Denver's recent efforts to combine waterway work with neighborhood renewal. The finished corridor will be maintained by the partner agencies for everyday use by nearby residents. (GSM, based on the City and County of Denver announcement)
