Bears Edge Patriots 30-24 to End New England's Three-Game Win Streak; Santos Hits Career-Long 58-Yarder

CHICAGO — The Chicago Bears gave their home fans a Thursday night worth staying up for, beating the visiting New England Patriots 30-24 on October 22 and snapping New England's three-game winning streak. The Bears improved to 5-2; the Patriots fell to 4-3.
Kicker Cairo Santos decided it with his leg, drilling a career-long 58-yard field goal with 1:34 remaining to make it 30-21. Andy Borregales answered with a 47-yard field goal with 37 seconds left to cut it to 30-24, but Chicago recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams completed 22 of 33 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Luther Burden III caught four passes for 130 yards and a touchdown, while Colston Loveland and D'Andre Swift each scored. Santos was perfect on three field-goal attempts.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye went 24-of-31 for 321 yards and two touchdowns, adding a rushing score but throwing one interception. Rhamondre Stevenson had five catches for 93 yards and a touchdown catch; Eli Raridon also caught a TD.
Chicago jumped out 10-0 in the first quarter on Santos' 43-yard field goal and Swift's 4-yard touchdown run. Maye answered with a 7-yard scoring run early in the second, and Santos' 31-yarder made it 13-7. The teams traded touchdowns in the final 14 seconds of the half — Williams hit Burden for 24 yards, then Maye found Stevenson for 48 yards with no time left — for a 20-14 halftime score. Loveland's 12-yard TD catch stretched it to 27-14 before Maye's 30-yard strike to Raridon made it 27-21, setting up Santos' 58-yard career best.
