Bears Host Patriots on Thursday Night: Team to Honor Legend Mike Ditka

Soldier Field in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, will host Thursday night football on Oct. 22, when the Chicago Bears face the New England Patriots at 8:15 p.m. to kick off the NFL's Week 7 slate. It will be the Bears' first home game since Oct. 4.
According to the Beaver County Times on Oct. 21, the Bears will honor legendary figure Mike Ditka during the game. Ditka, a standout tight end for the Bears as a player who later coached the team to a Super Bowl title, is one of the most iconic figures in Chicago sports history. He died on Oct. 9, just over a week before his 87th birthday.
Professional singer Wilbur Pauley, a native of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, will sing the U.S. national anthem before the game. Pauley has been one of the Bears' anthem singers for 14 seasons alongside Jim Cornelison, and his opera career has taken him to Portugal, Scotland, Argentina and venues across the United States. The team says Thursday night's tribute will be a central moment of the evening.
