Follow-Up: Probe Into Sober Home Where Presley Gerber Died Closes: California DHCS Finds Complaints Not Substantiated

California's Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has completed its investigation into Resolutions Living, the Santa Monica sober home where model Presley Gerber died, and determined that the complaints against the facility were not substantiated, Page Six reported on October 22, meaning there was not enough evidence to establish wrongdoing. Gerber, 27, died of a suspected overdose at the facility on September 20, the day after he was admitted. The son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, 60, and businessman Rande Gerber, 64, he had spoken openly about his struggles with addiction and mental health. After his death, a reform advocate with no relation to Gerber filed a formal complaint asking DHCS to review whether the facility was operating beyond the lawful scope of sober living and whether it had accepted an individual who required a higher level of care than it could provide. The complaint also cited Page Six's reporting on Gerber's condition when he arrived, raising questions about his admission, screening and supervision; the inquiry focused on those two questions.

Gerber's death remains under police investigation, and an official cause of death has not been announced. His family released a statement this past weekend saying they were beyond heartbroken to lose their beloved son and brother, and felt blessed to have had him in their lives for 27 years. Page Six said it reached out to the facility's founder, Dr. Reza Nabavi, to Resolutions Living and to representatives for Gerber's family, but did not immediately hear back.
