15-Year-Old Arrested on Suspicion of Knifepoint Robbery at Apple Valley Beauty Store: About $1,215 in Merchandise Involved

A knifepoint robbery was reported on October 21 in Apple Valley, a town in San Bernardino County, California. According to Gloria Orejel, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, a 15-year-old boy tried to leave an ULTA beauty store at Highway 18 and Dale Evans Parkway at about 2:40 p.m. with roughly $1,215 worth of merchandise he had not paid for. When an employee confronted him, he brandished a knife and threatened the employee. Deputies who responded to the scene quickly took him into custody.
Sheriff's officials said the boy was walking out of the store with the unpaid items when the employee confronted him, at which point he pulled out the knife and made the threat. Responding deputies apprehended him shortly afterward.
The teenager was booked into a juvenile hall on suspicion of robbery. Local reporting did not release the boy's name, and the spokeswoman did not provide further details, including whether the employee was injured.
