Rancho Palos Verdes Details Measure RS Accountability: Public Disclosure and Annual Independent Audits

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes, in Los Angeles County, California, has published an explainer on Measure RS, its measure on the November 2026 ballot. The measure would raise the transient occupancy tax (hotel tax, paid only by hotel guests) from 10% to 13%, generating an estimated $2.2 million a year for wildfire and disaster preparedness, roads and storm drains, sinkhole prevention, landslide and land movement response, and general city services. The city says Measure RS carries fiscal accountability rules: all spending must be publicly disclosed, with independent annual financial and performance audits tracking the use of the funds. The measure requires a simple majority to pass; details are on the city's Measure RS page.
