Columbus Seeks Members for Non-Police Crisis Response Advisory Board, Applications Due October 23

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The City of Columbus is recruiting members for its Community Crisis Response Advisory Board, a 15-member panel that will oversee the city's planned non-police crisis response teams in Franklin County. Applications close October 23.
The program stems from Issue 5, a charter amendment voters approved with about 77 percent support. It requires the city to have non-police crisis response teams operating by February 2028 and running around the clock by February 1, 2030, diverting mental-health-related 911 calls away from police-only responses.
The city council and Mayor Andrew Ginther are expected to name the appointees in early November, and the board must hold its first meeting before the end of November. Members will advise the city on training, dispatch criteria and public data reporting for the new teams. (GSM, based on reporting by The Columbus Dispatch)
