Silicon Valley Asian Pacific FilmFest Opens October 22: Four Days of Screenings Begin With Opening Film

CUPERTINO, California — The 12th Silicon Valley Asian Pacific FilmFest, in Santa Clara County, California, opened on the evening of Thursday, October 22 at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at De Anza College. Opening night began at 5:30 p.m. with the opening of the "Threads of Resilience" exhibition at the Euphrat Museum of Art, followed by the opening film "The Rose: Come Back to Me," a director Q&A and a dessert reception. Presented by Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS), the festival runs in person October 22–25 at De Anza College and AMC in Sunnyvale, then moves online October 26–November 1. On Friday, October 23 at 7 p.m., AMC Sunnyvale hosts a special bento dinner plus preview screening of "Cambodian Rock Band"; weekend programs include the short-film strands "Beyond the Single Story" and "From Hate to Hope." The festival accepts only films related to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders; organizers say they do not accept SI-curated films, emphasizing authentic human storytelling. Opening-night tickets this year include an exclusive commemorative light stick, and VIP guests could enter early to view the exhibition and meet the filmmakers.
