Tulane Architecture School's Annual Gala Held October 22; Former Mayor Morial Among Four Honorees

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — Tulane University's School of Architecture and Built Environment, in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, held its 2026 awards gala on the evening of Thursday, October 22, at The Josephine, 2400 Napoleon Ave: cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner and the awards at 7 p.m., followed by a live-music reception. The school announced four honorees: Henry Shane, whose work has long shaped New Orleans' architecture, design and cultural life, received the Architecture and Urban Advocate Award; former New Orleans mayor Marc Morial received the Friend of the School Award, recognizing his support of the school's mission and his contributions to the city's development; professor Carol McMichael Reese received the Distinguished Faculty Award for her teaching, mentorship and scholarship; and Wellington 'Duke' Reiter received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. The school says the annual gala is its signature event, honoring innovation, service and impact in architecture, education and the built environment, and that all proceeds from the dinner go directly to student scholarships, helping talented students access a Tulane education.
