Phoenix Woman Owens Sentenced in Fraud Case: 30 Days in Jail, 7 Years' Probation

Friday, October 23, 2026 · City · GSM News

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge in Phoenix, Arizona, sentenced Owens on October 23 in a fraud case: 30 days in jail followed by seven years of probation.

Owens pleaded guilty on August 28 to charges including fraud scheme, perjury and identity theft. The court noted that violating probation could expose her to as much as 12 years in prison. Judge Julie Mata had made an adverse civil finding against Owens in 2024, and the case involved a second victim, Gregory Gillespie. Both sides addressed the court at sentencing.

The case now moves into the probation phase, during which Owens must comply with court-imposed conditions under supervision.
