A suspicious item found near the entrance to the consular section of Ukraine's embassy in Washington prompted a temporary evacuation on October 23, with a bomb squad responding; the item was determined not to be a threat and the embassy has resumed normal operations, Reuters reported.
The Secret Service said the item was discovered at about 8:40 a.m., and the nearby Key Bridge was briefly closed during the response.
Ukraine's chargé d'affaires in Washington, Denys Sienik, commented on the incident. The embassy is in the Georgetown area of Washington, and no injuries were reported.
