Regional Transportation Alliance Endorses Raleigh's $101.5 Million Transportation Bond

Friday, October 23, 2026 · City · GSM News

The Regional Transportation Alliance (RTA), the Raleigh area's business-backed transportation group in Wake County, North Carolina, announced in its October 23 member briefing that its steering committee has unanimously endorsed the City of Raleigh's $101.5 million transportation bond referendum.

The bond appears on the November 3 ballot alongside a separate $101.5 million housing bond, for a combined $203 million. The city says that under its "steady state" debt plan, the borrowing can be repaid without raising the property tax rate.

Transportation bond projects include companion general-purpose lanes along the future Southern BRT corridor, improvements to roads including Ebenezer Church and Trawick, more than 50 miles of new bikeways, and safety improvements across all travel modes. RTA executive director Joe Milazzo II urged voters to study the referendum; early voting is already under way in Raleigh.
