Friday, October 23, 2026 · City · GSM News

Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza has released the latest video in her neighborhood tour series, exploring Chicago's Chinatown in Cook County with 11th Ward Alderwoman Nicole Lee.

The tour stops at the Nine Dragon Wall, the Chinatown Square Zodiac statues, the new Visitor Center, Chiu Quon Bakery, the Pui Tak Center, the "Backdraft" firehouse, B.B.Q. King House, Joy Yee and Sakura Karaoke, and the Ping Tom Memorial Park pavilion where the Chicago Water Taxi docks, as well as the Chinese American Museum of Chicago.

It is the third video in the series Mendoza is producing this year, following Little Village and Asia on Argyle; the series spotlights ethnic business corridors under pressure from immigration enforcement or other economic strains. According to the comptroller's office, Chinatown is home to more than 28,000 residents and over 400 businesses. Mendoza said she hopes the videos draw more Illinois residents to visit and spend in Chinatown.
