Disturbance Southwest of Hawaii May Bring Heavy Rain, Flood Risk Next Week

HAWAII — The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Hawaii warned on October 23 that a weather disturbance southwest of the state is developing and could approach the Hawaiian Islands around October 27 to 28, bringing a risk of significant rainfall and flash flooding.
In the eastern Pacific, Hurricane Vance reached 90 mph winds on the morning of October 23, located about 455 miles south-southwest of Acapulco, Mexico. Vance, named on October 21, is a separate system from the disturbance southwest of Hawaii.
Forecasters said the disturbance's exact track and strength remain uncertain, and later forecasts will clarify its likely impact on the islands.
