Cook Political Report Moves Colorado's 8th District to Lean Democratic in Ratings Shift

The Cook Political Report issued new ratings on October 23, moving four Republican-held House seats, including Colorado's 8th District, from Toss Up to Lean Democratic. The four seats are Arizona's 6th (Juan Ciscomani), Colorado's 8th (Gabe Evans), Virginia's 2nd (Jen Kiggans) and Wisconsin's 3rd (Derrick Van Orden), with less than two weeks to go before Election Day on November 3.
In Colorado's 8th District, Republican Rep. Evans faces Democratic challenger Manny Rutinel; a mid-September McLaughlin & Associates poll showed Evans ahead by just two points, 48 to 46 percent, within the margin of error. President Trump carried the district 50 to 48 percent in 2024.
Cook shifted 19 House races toward Democrats in total, and now rates 220 seats as Solid, Likely or Lean Democratic, against 198 for Republicans.
