Indiana Fever Fire GM Amber Cox Hours After President Krauskopf Steps Down; National Search to Follow

The Indiana Fever's front-office shakeup deepened on October 23: hours after team president Kelly Krauskopf announced she was ending a tenure of nearly 30 years, the team confirmed it has fired general manager Amber Cox, the Associated Press reported, citing a person familiar with the move.

Cox joined the Fever in 2024 as general manager and chief operating officer, succeeding Lin Dunn, who moved to an advisory role. The team went 52-36 during her tenure and set a franchise record with 28 wins in the 2026 season. Mel Raines, president and CEO of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement: “Through her two seasons with the Fever, Amber has helped us navigate the seismic growth of both the WNBA and our franchise. We're grateful for her contributions and wish her the very best moving forward.” The team will conduct a national search for its next general manager.

Earlier the same day, the Fever announced Krauskopf's departure, which GSM reported separately. She joined the organization in 1999 as the team's first president and general manager, leading it to 13 playoff appearances, three Finals trips and the 2012 championship. Head coach Stephanie White is expected to remain, with one year left on her contract, according to The Athletic. The Fever face a busy offseason: star Caitlin Clark is eligible for an extension under the new CBA's EPIC clause, and guard Kelsey Mitchell will be an unrestricted free agent.
