Seattle's Mi La Cay, a 34-Year Little Saigon Noodle Staple, to Close October 29

Mi La Cay, the renowned noodle spot at Rainier Avenue and Dearborn Street in Seattle's Little Saigon, announced on October 23 that it will permanently close on October 29, ending a 34-year run. Siblings Ha Ong and Trinh Ong, the founder and manager behind the restaurant, shared the news with customers in an emotional message: "After 34 years of serving our customers, we have decided to close our business. This is the hardest decision to make."
Mi La Cay first opened in 1993 and quickly established itself as a premier destination for Vietnamese and Chinese noodle soup; in its inaugural year it made the front page of The Seattle Times. Over more than three decades it became a multi-generational anchor for families and a community landmark. The owners thanked community partners who provided relief grants and assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Seattle Chinatown International District, Friends of Little Saigon and Laura Clise of Intentionalist. "We thank everyone one final time for all your love and support. We, Ha and Trinh, will miss you all," they wrote.
After the announcement, longtime customers posted messages recalling their first bowls of noodles at the restaurant.
