FDA Posts Two Food Recalls Dated October 22: WinCo Hoagie Rolls With Undeclared Sesame and Natural Grocers Mung Beans With Possible Glass

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted two food recalls dated October 22 on its Recalls, Market Withdrawals, & Safety Alerts page: WinCo Foods brand hoagie rolls recalled for undeclared sesame, and Natural Grocers brand organic mung beans recalled because they may contain glass. Both recalls were issued through company announcements published by the FDA on October 22. As of the announcements, no illnesses had been reported in either recall, and the mung bean recall had also received no reports of injuries.
The first recall involves WinCo Foods LLC of Boise, Idaho. The recalled WinCo Foods Hoagie Rolls carry a net weight of 16 ounces (1 pound, 454 grams), UPC 2-70552-00649-2, and Best By dates from September 10, 2026 through November 3, 2026, printed on the bag in a format such as "Best if used by SEP 9." The rolls were distributed to WinCo Foods retail stores in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. According to the announcement, the recall began after the manufacturer, United States Bakery, discovered that sesame flour was not declared in the packaging's ingredient list or allergen statement. People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame risk a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the product. Consumers with a sesame sensitivity are advised not to eat the rolls and to return them to their nearest WinCo Foods store for a refund; questions can go to the WinCo Foods Customer Service Desk at 1-800-824-1706. The recall is being made with the knowledge of the FDA.
The second recall involves Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets, Inc. of Lakewood, Colorado. The recalled product is Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Mung Beans in 2-pound clear plastic bags, UPC 000080112600, with pack dates 26-160, 26-173, 26-196, 26-224 and 26-258, shown in the lower left corner of the label. The lots began shipping on June 10, 2026, and may have reached Natural Grocers stores in 22 states: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. The company said the recall followed customer complaints about sharp glass fragments in the product, and that ingesting glass fragments may injure consumers, including damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestine. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and either discard it or return it for a full refund or credit; questions can go to the company at 303-226-1434, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time. This recall is also being made with the knowledge of the FDA.
