Coachella School Employee Arrested on Suspicion of Inappropriate Contact With a Student: 26-Year-Old Woman Held, First Court Appearance Oct. 26

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department in California said Brittny Jaramillo, a 26-year-old employee at a school in the city of Coachella, was arrested in Indio on October 22 on suspicion of inappropriate contact with a student. She is being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and is due to make her first appearance at the Riverside Hall of Justice on Monday, October 26.
Deputies responded on October 8 to a report of inappropriate contact in the 52000 block of Frederick Street in Coachella, according to the Sheriff's Department. Because of the nature of the case, the department's Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and identified Jaramillo, an Indio resident, as the suspect.
On October 22, investigators conducted a traffic stop in the area of Varner Road and Adams Street in Indio, where Jaramillo was arrested without incident. A search warrant was then served at her residence in the 38000 block of Rancho Los Cerritos in Indio; authorities did not disclose whether any items related to the investigation were found. Booking records list the suspicions against her as digital penetration and additional sexual abuse charges.
The Sheriff's Department said it believes there may have been additional victims and urged anyone with information to call sheriff's dispatch at 951-776-1099. The school's executive director, Lisa Hernandez, said in a statement that the school is cooperating with law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing. Jaramillo has been arrested and faces allegations only; she has not been convicted.
