The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts announced on October 23 that Luis Rolando Clavijo Tacuri, 32, an Ecuadorian national unlawfully residing in Milford, Massachusetts, has been sentenced in federal court in Worcester for illegally reentering the United States after deportation.

On October 20, U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman sentenced Tacuri to time served (85 days). He is now subject to deportation proceedings. The government had recommended a sentence of seven months in prison. Tacuri pleaded guilty in September 2026 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien and was charged in August 2026.

Tacuri was first encountered by immigration officials in October 2015, while he was incarcerated on charges of operating under the influence in Holliston, Massachusetts. At the time, it was his third operating under the influence offense. He was subsequently placed into removal proceedings and deported to Ecuador in December 2016.

Sometime after his removal, Tacuri illegally reentered the United States. On May 27, 2024, he was encountered by law enforcement in Milford, Massachusetts.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley; Jeff Grimming, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England; and David T. Wesling, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan O'Shea of the Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case.
