Trader Joe's Tarragon Chicken Salad Wraps Confirmed as Source of E. Coli Outbreak

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) confirmed on October 23 that Trader Joe's Tarragon Chicken Salad Wraps are the source of this fall's E. coli O157:H7 outbreak. According to USA TODAY, the FSIS made the confirmation in an email response to the newspaper; the outbreak has sickened at least 50 people.
GSM previously reported that the product was pulled from shelves in nine states in September after the company was notified, that cases later rose to 50, and that a lawsuit was filed against Trader Joe's. The FSIS statement is the first official confirmation identifying the wraps as the outbreak's source.
