Trump Personally Called Musk on October 21 to Lift Restrictions on Militarized Starlink in Ukraine, WSJ Reports

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump personally called SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on October 21, asking him to lift restrictions on the militarized version of Starlink inside Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported on October 22, as relayed by Xinhua. The call follows the running Starshield throttling dispute: the U.S.
had earlier capped speeds on Ukrainian Starlink terminals, and Kyiv said on October 23 the caps were still in place — contradicting Trump-side claims that Musk had restored access. Senator Richard Blumenthal has written to the defense secretary demanding to know who ordered the throttling. Trump's direct call to Musk signals White House efforts to intervene personally and defuse the episode.
Neither SpaceX nor the White House has issued a formal statement on the call's contents. (GSM, from Xinhua relaying The Wall Street Journal)
