Friday, October 23, 2026 · Games · GSM News

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Activision's first-person shooter developed under Infinity Ward's lead, launched worldwide on October 23. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam, Battle.net, and Xbox on PC), and Nintendo Switch 2. It is the first mainline entry in the series to skip the previous console generation entirely, with no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version.

According to the publisher, the release includes a campaign, multiplayer, and the DMZ extraction mode. The campaign is set around an invasion of the Korean Peninsula, following a young South Korean soldier on the front lines alongside a separate mission thread for Captain Price. Digital pre-order players received early access to the campaign starting October 16, with DMZ early access opening on October 20.

In the United States, the Standard Edition is priced at $69.99, and the Vault Edition, which adds operator packs and weapon blueprints, is priced at $99.99. Activision said the game launches as a standalone purchase and will not be included with Game Pass at launch; it is not expected to join the subscription service until Holiday 2027. The official PC requirements include 115 GB of SSD storage and require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for online play.
