DC's 'Clayface' Opens in North America: $3.5 Million in Thursday Previews as the Studio Projects a $25–30 Million Weekend

Warner Bros. and DC Studios' R-rated body-horror film 'Clayface' opened on October 23 in more than 3,400 North American theaters. The film earned $3.5 million in Thursday previews, according to Variety, and the studio projects a domestic opening weekend of $25 million to $30 million, plus $20 million to $25 million internationally.
The film cost a reported net $44 million before marketing. Directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan and others, it stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, an actor whose face is disfigured, and Naomi Ackie as the scientist he turns to for help. It is the third theatrical release in the DC Universe, following 'Superman' and 'Supergirl.'
Its main competition is A24's documentary 'You Can See Everything,' which expands to about 2,600 theaters this weekend after a breakout debut in 855 locations.
