The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a statement in Washington on October 24 highlighting a group of illegal aliens arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Georgia, including violent assailants, domestic abusers, drunk drivers, and kidnappers.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in the statement that in recent weeks ICE has been removing illegal aliens from Georgia communities who were arrested for offenses including cruelty to children, driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault, and family violence. The statement also noted that the first bill President Trump signed in office was centered on Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student.

The statement listed five people. Olbin Omar Lopez-Orellana, a previously deported illegal alien from Honduras, was arrested by ICE in Eatonton, Georgia on October 14. His criminal history includes convictions for three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal damage to property, and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and arrests for third-degree cruelty to children and driving without a valid license. He was issued a final order of removal in April 2021 and was removed to Honduras in June 2021, then illegally re-entered the United States.

Jorge Chipoco, an illegal alien from Peru, was arrested by ICE in Lawrenceville, Georgia on October 13. His criminal history includes arrests for two counts of simple assault, third-degree cruelty to children, battery-family violence, criminal mischief-property damage, obstruction of the administration of law, and harassment. Rigoberto Gabriel Toj, an illegal alien from Guatemala, was arrested by ICE in Decatur, Georgia on October 18, with an arrest for felony aggravated assault family-strongarm.

Selvin Cruz Gallo, an illegal alien from Honduras, was arrested by ICE in Mableton, Georgia on October 13. His criminal history includes arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol, simple battery-family violence, manufacturing, sale, or possession of a fictitious operator's license, driving without a valid license, and failure to show identification. Hector Gutierrez Espinoza, an illegal alien from Mexico, was arrested by ICE in Decatur, Georgia on October 14. His criminal history includes arrests for aggravated assault, criminal trespass, false imprisonment, battery-family violence, and theft by shoplifting, and three separate arrests for driving without a license.

DHS said all five entered the United States illegally at an unknown time and location. The statement did not provide a schedule for court proceedings or removal proceedings in their cases.
