Follow-up: Leclerc Fastest in Second Practice at the U.S. Grand Prix, Antonelli Just 0.042 Seconds Back

On Friday, October 23, Formula 1's United States Grand Prix completed two practice sessions at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Travis County, Texas; the second-session results were released by Ferrari on October 24. This site had previewed the October 23-25 Grand Prix weekend; the new development is the practice timesheet. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc led FP2 with a 1:35.291 lap, followed by Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli at 1:35.333, just 0.042 seconds back, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen third at 1:35.480, the top three covered by less than 0.2 seconds. Leclerc's teammate Lewis Hamilton was fourth; the pair started the session on hard tires before switching to softs for their fastest laps, and Leclerc ran 30 laps in all. Antonelli currently leads the drivers' championship and could clinch the title early in Austin, which makes Saturday's qualifying especially closely watched. Qualifying runs at 4 p.m. local time on October 24; the race starts at 3 p.m. on October 25.
