Dolphins Activate Rookie Safety Kyle Louis on October 24

Saturday, October 24, 2026 · City · GSM News

On October 24, the Miami Dolphins, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, announced they had activated rookie safety Kyle Louis from injured reserve to the 53-man roster, and elevated kicker Zane Gonzalez and edge rusher Max Llewellyn to the active roster ahead of their road game against the New York Jets. Louis had missed four weeks through injury and only returned to practice this week; how much he plays against the Jets remains to be seen, but his return gives Miami's thin pass defense a new option. At over 220 pounds, Louis played linebacker in college and combines physicality with coverage ability; the team may use him in an hybrid role on obvious passing downs, sharing some linebacker duties and improving coverage in the middle of the field. He is also likely to contribute on special teams, having played more than half of the team's special teams snaps in the opening week, on a unit that has been inconsistent all season. Beyond this week, Louis's return is also about building defensive depth for the second half of the season.
