Ohio State Men Host Butler in Sunday Exhibition; Halftime Tribute to Coach Matta

Ohio State announced on October 24 that its men's basketball team, in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, will host Butler at the Schottenstein Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday in its final exhibition game before the regular season, streamed on B1G+ with the school's radio network carrying it as well. The game is about more than a tune-up: at halftime the school will honor legendary head coach Thad Matta. Across a 21-year college coaching career, Matta won 502 games, reached 13 NCAA Tournaments and two Final Fours and won eight conference titles, coaching at Ohio State, Butler and Xavier. On the court, John Mobley Jr. scored 15 points in the first exhibition on October 7; he was named to the preseason All-Big Ten team and has made 174 three-pointers over his first two seasons, seventh in school history. The regular season opens on November 2, making Sunday's exhibition the coaching staff's last live look at rotations and lineups for the new season.
