Two People Shot in Phoenix on Saturday Afternoon: Woman in Critical Condition, Gunman at Large
At about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Phoenix police responded to multiple calls about a shooting near North 23rd Avenue and Thomas Road, where a man and a woman had been shot.
The man's gunshot wound was not life-threatening, but the woman was critically injured and taken to a local hospital. Neighbors told reporters they heard about 25 gunshots; a car sat in the middle of the road riddled with bullet holes, with both victims on the pavement.
As of Saturday afternoon, police said no suspect was in custody, the case remained under investigation, and it was preliminarily believed to be an isolated incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151, or the Silent Witness hotline at 480-WITNESS — or the Spanish-language line, 480-TESTIGO — to report anonymously. Police said they will continue working to identify the gunman and a motive.
