Raleigh Holds Saturday City Events on Oct. 24: Shredding and E-Waste Drop-Off Plus Arbor Day Celebration

On Saturday, October 24, several city events took place on the same day in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, letting residents dispose of old documents, volunteer at a tree-planting celebration and visit a local art exhibition in a single day.
Event Information
Shredding event: October 24, 9 a.m. to noon, Wilders Grove Solid Waste Services facility, 630 Beacon Lake Drive; limit of four bankers boxes or four large trash bags per household, one trip per household; washers, dryers, ovens, refrigerators and pianos not accepted.
Arbor Day event: October 24, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Carolina Pines Park, 2305 Lake Wheeler Road.
According to the City of Raleigh's event guide, the Solid Waste Services department ran a "shredding plus e-waste" collection at Wilders Grove from 9 a.m. to noon, where residents could use a drive-through to drop off sensitive documents, eligible electronics and household batteries; the Kramden Institute also collected refurbishable computer equipment on site and handed out yard-waste bags.
The same morning, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the city and We Plant It Forward hosted the Raleigh Arbor Day celebration at Carolina Pines Park. After a ceremonial planting and the Arbor Day proclamation, volunteers could learn tree care and local ecology at several stations, and participants could take a tree home to plant, supporting Raleigh's "Leaf Out" goal of planting 24,000 trees by 2032. Other events that day included a free exhibition reception at Pullen Arts Center; many activities require advance registration or have limited capacity, and residents can check the city's event pages for times and availability.
